Many imported machines arrive with CE or UKCA marks, but the supporting documentation is incomplete, incorrect or not suitable for the actual product. This can create problems during customs clearance, market entry, customer approval, insurance review, workplace installation or future inspections.
Below are some of the most common CE and UKCA compliance mistakes seen when importing machinery from China.

1. Incorrect or Missing CE and UKCA Marking
One of the most common mistakes is treating CE or UKCA marking as a simple label. In reality, the marking must be supported by a proper conformity assessment process.

- Marking shown only on the packaging or user manual

Component CE marking can support the technical file, but the complete machine must still be assessed as a finished product. The full machine must be reviewed for mechanical safety, electrical safety, guarding, control systems, emergency stops, instructions and overall risk reduction.
A CE-marked component does not automatically make the complete machine CE compliant.
9. High-Risk Machinery Without Valid Notified Body or Approved Body Certification

- The issuing body is not recognised for the required scope

10. Poor English User Manual and Safety Instructions
For the UK market, machinery should be supplied with clear English instructions. Poor translations can create both safety and compliance problems.
