Typical products
A practical starting point for scoping your product. Final requirements depend on its design and intended use.
| Product | Typical products | Standards to consider | Assessment focus |
|---|---|---|---|
| Control and distribution assemblies | Low-voltage switchgear and controlgear assemblies supplied as products. | EN IEC 61439-1 with the relevant product part, commonly EN IEC 61439-2. | Construction and verification evidence, protection, temperature rise and assembly ratings. |
| Measurement and control instruments | Electrical instruments for measurement, control or laboratory applications. | EN 61010-1 plus the relevant particular requirements for the equipment. | Electric shock, insulation, temperature, mechanical hazards and foreseeable misuse. |
| Household and similar appliances | Appropriate domestic or commercial appliances, assessed for their specified use. | EN 60335-1 with the applicable Part 2; confirm whether machinery or other exclusions apply. | Electrical protection, heating, abnormal operation, moving parts and instructions. |
These are examples of relevant standard families, not an automatic checklist or a claim that every edition is currently harmonised or designated. We check the applicable part, edition, amendments, restrictions and product scope for the target market.
Testing scope
Construction review and selected protective-conductor, insulation, dielectric, leakage/current, temperature or abnormal-operation tests.
Electrical safety serviceDetermine emissions and immunity requirements for the product, ports, supply and intended environment. Radio functions can require a different route.
EMC serviceWhere equipment forms part of machinery, assess integration and machinery electrical safety as well as any separately supplied product obligations.
Integrated machine functions serviceTarget market
The Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU and EMC Directive 2014/30/EU may apply. The intended use, voltage and any radio or machinery functions determine the legislation.
The Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 and EMC Regulations 2016 apply where the product falls within their scope. Relevant CE-marked products continue to be recognised alongside UKCA.
Relevant EU product rules and CE marking apply. Where a UK body carries out mandatory third-party assessment, CE + UKNI may be required. UKCA alone is not the NI route.
Testing provides evidence for conformity assessment. Third-party certification is required only where the applicable legislation and route require it; the manufacturer remains responsible for the declaration and marking.

The agreed test report or technical assessment, identified non-conformities, relevant limitations and practical next steps. The quotation identifies the test location and any technical partner involvement.
Share the model, intended use, target market and power source. Photographs, drawings, ratings, manuals and existing reports help, but a complete technical file is not needed for an initial enquiry.
Technical scope reviewed on 22 October 2026. The applicable requirements are confirmed for each project.
