Typical products
A practical starting point for scoping your product. Final requirements depend on its design and intended use.
| Product | Typical products | Standards to consider | Assessment focus |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mobile elevating work platforms | Scissor lifts and other work platforms within the selected standard’s scope. | EN 280-1; additional parts where fitted functions require them. | Stability, load and movement controls, emergency lowering, access and protective devices. |
| Powered hoists | Electric, pneumatic or hydraulic hoists for lifting loads. | EN 14492-2; select the correct configuration and supporting requirements. | Load holding, brakes, limits, controls, overload protection and mechanical integrity. |
| Pallet trucks | Pedestrian-propelled hydraulic pallet trucks and powered industrial trucks. | EN ISO 3691-5 for relevant pedestrian-propelled trucks; EN ISO 3691-1 for relevant powered trucks. | Stability, steering/braking, lowering, trapping risks and safe load information. |
These are examples of relevant standard families, not an automatic checklist or a claim that every edition is currently harmonised or designated. We check the applicable part, edition, amendments, restrictions and product scope for the target market.
Testing scope
Define rated capacity, load geometry, operating positions and test conditions before any load or stability test is agreed.
Load & stability assessment serviceAssess limit devices, emergency functions and electrical, hydraulic or pneumatic systems that can affect safe movement or load holding.
Controls & energy systems serviceSelect additional tests according to electronic controls, drive systems, operator exposure and the applicable product standard.
EMC, noise & vibration serviceTarget market
Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC applies until 19 January 2027. Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 generally applies from 20 January 2027. Additional legislation is checked for the product’s functions.
The Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 apply. CE remains recognised alongside UKCA for relevant sectors, subject to the applicable route. Outdoor noise, EMC or other rules may also apply.
Relevant EU product rules and CE marking apply. Where a UK body carries out mandatory third-party assessment, CE + UKNI may be required. UKCA alone is not the NI route.
Testing provides evidence for conformity assessment. Third-party certification is required only where the applicable legislation and route require it; the manufacturer remains responsible for the declaration and marking.
Clear outputs
The agreed test report or technical assessment, identified non-conformities, relevant limitations and practical next steps. The quotation identifies the test location and any technical partner involvement.
Share the model, intended use, target market and power source. Photographs, drawings, ratings, manuals and existing reports help, but a complete technical file is not needed for an initial enquiry.
Technical scope reviewed on 22 October 2026. The applicable requirements are confirmed for each project.
