Typical products
A practical starting point for scoping your product. Final requirements depend on its design and intended use.
| Product | Typical products | Standards to consider | Assessment focus |
|---|---|---|---|
| Packaging machines | Form-fill-seal machines and wrapping equipment used in production lines. | EN 415 series, including EN 415-3 or EN 415-5 for the relevant machine. | Guarding, interlocks, access to moving parts, control functions and line integration. |
| Hydraulic and pneumatic presses | Presses used for forming, assembly or similar manufacturing operations. | EN ISO 16092-1 with EN ISO 16092-3 for hydraulic presses or EN ISO 16092-4 for pneumatic presses, within their scope. | Crushing risks, protective devices, stored energy, controls and safe setting or maintenance. |
| Pumps and pump units | Electrically driven process pumps and supplied pump assemblies. | EN 809; electrical equipment and fluid-system standards as applicable. | Rotating parts, pressure and leakage hazards, electrical protection and operating instructions. |
These are examples of relevant standard families, not an automatic checklist or a claim that every edition is currently harmonised or designated. We check the applicable part, edition, amendments, restrictions and product scope for the target market.
Testing scope
Risk assessment, guards, interlocks, emergency stops and safety-related controls. Electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic energy sources are considered together.
Machinery safety serviceElectrical safety checks and emissions/immunity assessment where the electrical and electronic design brings these requirements into scope.
Electrical safety & EMC serviceMeasurements where needed for hazard assessment, product-specific tests or declared emission information.
Noise & vibration serviceTarget market
Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC applies until 19 January 2027. Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 generally applies from 20 January 2027. Additional legislation is checked for the product’s functions.
The Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 apply. CE remains recognised alongside UKCA for relevant sectors, subject to the applicable route. Outdoor noise, EMC or other rules may also apply.
Relevant EU product rules and CE marking apply. Where a UK body carries out mandatory third-party assessment, CE + UKNI may be required. UKCA alone is not the NI route.
Testing provides evidence for conformity assessment. Third-party certification is required only where the applicable legislation and route require it; the manufacturer remains responsible for the declaration and marking.
Clear outputs
The agreed test report or technical assessment, identified non-conformities, relevant limitations and practical next steps. The quotation identifies the test location and any technical partner involvement.
Share the model, intended use, target market and power source. Photographs, drawings, ratings, manuals and existing reports help, but a complete technical file is not needed for an initial enquiry.
Technical scope reviewed on 22 October 2026. The applicable requirements are confirmed for each project.
